Hyderabad's Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested four accused in a case of gang-rape and murder of a 22-year-old vet. Those detained include a truck driver and a cleaner. Police suspect that the accused gang-raped the young girl and later strangled her to death and burnt the body.

Based on the confessions of the accused and the evidence collected, it is learned that the four accused were involved in the crime. Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar told reporters that the four accused had seen the victim parking her two-wheeler at Tondupalli tollgate in Shamshabad at around 6 pm on Wednesday, at the same time when everyone had planned to commit the crime. As per his plan, he deliberately fired air from the victim's scooty rear tire and at that time all the accused were drunk.

The National Commission for Women (NWC) took suo motu cognizance on Friday against the gang-rape and murder of a government veterinarian at Shadnagar, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, while the police claimed to have arrested all four accused in this connection. Commission chairman Rekha Sharma said in a tweet that a team of NWC has been sent to Hyderabad to help the victim family.

With the help of CCTV analysis and eyewitnesses, the police have exposed the heinous incident. It is alleged that these four gang-raped her before killing the vet.
Police said that the accused would be requested to submit the case to the Mahbubnagar fast-track court for maximum punishment and speedy trial against them. After investigation, four accused - Mohammed alias Arif (lorry driver), Zulu Shiva, Zulu Naveen (both assistants) and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu alias Chenna (driver) - were taken into custody by Shadnagar police. All the accused are all residents of Maktal Mandal in Narayanpet district. 10 teams were formed to collect witnesses and CCTV details.

Telangana minister K.T. Rama Rao condemned the incident on Friday and promised to personally monitor the case. Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao's son Rama Rao said the government would ensure that the victim gets justice at the earliest. Police recovered the victim's scooty, clothes, shoes and bottles of liquor from the toll plaza.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that he was shocked to hear about the brutal rape and murder in Hyderabad. Rahul said that it is also difficult to imagine that any human being can commit such terrible and unprovoked violence with anyone. Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "My condolences and prayers are with the victims family in this hour of grief."

Telangana Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali said on Friday that the victim's veterinary doctor should have called the police instead of her sister for help. Describing the incident as unfortunate, the minister said that the woman should have called the police instead of her sister to save her. The minister said that if someone calls the police on the number 100 for help, it arrives in three minutes.
