Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad detained by Delhi Police

Chandrashekhar Azad, the chief of the Bhim Army, who was leading the march from Jama Masjid, was arrested from outside the Jama Masjid early Saturday after a huge uproar in Delhi over the citizenship law on Friday.

He was protesting inside the mosque against the amended citizenship law. He said, "We have to sacrifice so that the law is withdrawn." We do not support violence. We were sitting inside the mosque since Friday morning and our people were not involved in the violence. ”Azad reached the Jama Masjid on Friday by dodging the police.

People took out a protest march carrying the tricolor near Jama Masjid in Delhi. The Bhim Army marched till Jantar-Mantar. The car was set on fire in Daryaganj area. The police lathi-charged the protesters and left a splash of water. Violence and arson took place in several cities including Firozabad, Bulandshahr, Sambhal, Kanpur, Ghaziabad in UP. More than three thousand people were detained in the state.
